What is international pension?

It is the right to receive a pension for years worked in multiple countries, based on agreements between Romania, the UK and EU or non-EU states.

Do years worked in multiple countries add up?

Yes. Each country calculates your pension for the period you worked there, but the final file takes into account all the years you have accumulated.

Where do I submit the file if I have worked in several countries?

The file is submitted to the County Pension House in Romania (or the Bucharest Pension House, if you are in the capital). They contact the countries where you worked.

Do I receive one pension or several?

You receive separate pensions from each country where you contributed, but they all come based on the same international file.

If I only worked for 1-2 years in a country, does it matter?

Yes! Even a year working at the average salary means extra money in retirement.

How do I find out how many years I have been registered abroad?

You can officially request the contribution statement through a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR), based on GDPR, directly to the pension institution in that country.

What documents do I need for the international pension file?

In general: ID card, birth/marriage certificate, work record book (if you have one), seniority certificates, European forms (U1, S041), residence decisions.

What happens if the employer has not paid the contributions?

In some cases, if you had an employment contract, the period is still recognized. But verifications are needed with the institutions in that country.

If I work in the UK now and have a pension in Romania, is it related?

Yes. The UK has an agreement with Romania and the years are cumulative. You will receive a pension from both Romania and the UK, proportional to the years worked.

Where can I turn for help?

At the County Pension House in Romania, at consulates, or at specialized companies that deal with international pension files.

Recomand cu încredere!

Din păcate în cazul meu nu s-au putut recupera nimic pentru ca nu am avut comision discreționar ascuns. În urma răspunsului am primit înapoi cum au promis taxa achitată la început dar echipa Provelt și-a dat tot interesul să mă ajute.
